Facebook Reaches into the Rest of the Web

Slowly but surely growing its omniscience, Facebook has launched a new feature called “Facebook Connect,” which, in essence, allows its 120 million members to see what their friends are doing on other sites. For example, a person might alert his Facebook friends to the fact that he is watching a video on CBS.com and invite them to join him there to watch together and discuss the video as it plays. Citysearch Launches Hyper-Social, Hyper-Local, Hyper-Mobile Makeover

One of the first sites to adopt “Facebook Connect” mentioned above, Citysearch has launched a beta version: a complete makeover, allowing anyone to submit a review or rating using their Facebook account, going hyper-local by creating 75,000 neighborhoods instead of the old way of dividing their content into 140 or so cities, and taking full advantage of Google’s mobile geo-locating to make the content relevant as soon as you pull up the site.
